About Eric Hogue
Eric Hogue debuted on News Talk 1380 KTKZ on the morning of January 27, 2000. He remembers it well, “I think I had one or two callers for the week.” For KTKZ it was a new beginning, for Hogue those days are definitely long gone as KTKZ is one of the fastest growing talk formats in the Salem Communications broadcast family.
Hogue arrived in Sacramento by way of Cleveland, Ohio, where he was the afternoon talk host for WHK 1220 AM and 98.1 FM. He has worked in Cleveland, Canton, Chicago, Pittsburgh and now Sacramento. An Ohio native, Hogue has a wide range of conversational interests. At any time his show can capture local and national cultural issues, politics, religion, sports, moral dilemmas even ‘last night’s city council meeting’.
On February 4th at 6:05 AM, on 1380 KTKZ - Hogue launched California’s recall of Governor Gray Davis. Hogue spoke with the “Official Petitioner” of the 2003 Recall, Ted Costa of the People’s Advocate driving the original ‘signers’ of the ‘intent to recall Governor Davis’ in Sacramento. This document became the ‘official petition’ for the recall of Governor Gray Davis. The station is historically known as “The Home of the Recall”.
Guests on Hogue’s shows have included Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, members of Congress, the State Legislature and local offices, as well as prominent conservative authors and leaders.
Eric Hogue was honored with the “Andy Anderson Award” in 2004, as Salem Communication’s “National Talk Show Host of the Year”. The National Religious Broadcasters honored Hogue and KTKZ as the “talk Station of the Year” in 2004. The “Media Award” from Pacific Justice Institute for excellence in defending religious and conservative values in 2006 and 2007. Hogue’s exposure has made a national impact, as he has guest hosted for nationally syndicated talkers such as Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Laura Ingraham and San Diego’s Roger Hedgecock.
With the addition of the KTKZ 105.5FM in September of 2005, Hogue became the first local talk show host to broadcast on both the ‘AM’ and ‘FM’ dial positions in Sacramento, California. His community involvement frequently features him as a keynote speaker at numerous charity events in the Sacramento area, as well as political fund raisers and campaign events. In Hogue’s thirty year run in the broadcasting arena ten of those years have taken him into Sports Broadcasting. Some of his work has been on TV’s ESPN.
Hogue graduated from Louisville Senior High, in Louisville, Ohio. He attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio and Olivet University in Illinois. His course of study included communication, journalism, news reporting, religion education, as well as political, biblical and cultural studies.
A conservative, Hogue believes in individual responsibility, family values, economic freedom and smaller government. Hogue has been married to Tammy for 19 years, and the “Hogue Hut” includes two daughters ages 14 and 16. They reside in Roseville area, and love the city and its people. More recently Eric has been host of a regionally syndicated talk show for AM 1100 KFAX and AM 710 KFIA in the cities of San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento, as his conversation (with news, weather, sports and traffic) will take you from the ‘local pot hole’ to the war on terrorism.
